I think most people think of slightly lacking secretaries when they think of pencil skirts. However I don't think that that has to be the case. I like to dress a pencil skirt down, and there is something quite everyday luxury about suede and leather skirts, they are so soft and touchable. Denim and leather has cowboy connotations, but that doesn't mean you have to go with them, I have gone a bit more city sleek, after all I am in the city! Although 'Where have all the Cowboys gone' still comes to mind?!
Shoes Manolo Blahnik, Bag Louis Vitton (seriously vintage, was my mother's hence the wear and tear), Belt Max Mara, Skirt Zara, Shirt Zara, and Scarf DKNY.

i adore the belt with that skirt! xo

It works on you, definitely, but I'm not in love. I'm trying really really hard to convince myself that I could wear anything but leather shoes! I have been well and truely scarred from the leather trouser trends of the 90s *shudder*, it's still too raw.... ;)
ReplyDeleteHow to do denim and leather without looking cowboy. Looks good.

I love the scarf with the bag and the blue leather is a great contrast with the brown suede :). Also, where were these photos taken? I have a thing about pastel coloured buildings!

loving the mix of materials and textures. It works very well. The details add a nice "pop"!
ReplyDeleteYou look so gorgeous in this outfit, love your bag and your beautiful long hair. :)

I love this look, but I would be too nervous wearing the leather skirt!
ReplyDeleteI'm a shorty so not sure if I'd get away with a pencil skirt. There is currently one in French Connection that I want to try though, a blue lace. Gorgeous.

Your hair is absolutely enviable. x
ReplyDeleteOhhh, I love that song! I'm totally into cowboys. I love how in your outfit, you took two rustic-looking materials (denim and leather), often associated with cowboys, and made it look incredibly sophisticated. Your blog is absolutely wonderful. I'm following you now! Oh, yeah, and you're absolutely gorgeous; you look like a freakin' model.

Thanks for all the lovely thoughts!
ReplyDeleteThe belt was a gift from my mother and I love it.
@Lianne - I know exactly what you mean, but you have to look at it as a new thing. I am sure you would work it.
@Sarah - Just get the right proportion and I am sure you would look fab. Although you are right sometimes smaller girls look better in a mini, although I am hardly tall!
